In order to promote undergraduate research in organic chemistry in Thailand, we have initiated a collaborative joint research program fully supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) since 2002. As a core institution for this ThaiREU project, along with Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, and Kasetsart University, we have successfully fostered a unique atmosphere conducive not only for research but also for cultural exchanges among Thai and American students. In addition, both Thai and American students have benefited enormously from the program both on the interpersonal and professional levels.
